Earth Day 2007

Earth Day 2007 – Be Good to the Earth The Northland’s inaugural Earth Day celebration will be held from Noon until 3:00pm on Sunday, April 22nd at Oakbrook, a new community located between Liberty and Kearney. The entire family can join the activities planned for Earth Day. Children ages Kindergarten thru 5th grade can enter a coloring contest illustrating the theme - Be Good to the Earth. Children that submit an entry will receive a seedling from the Missouri Department of Conservation. Contest entry forms will be available on the 22nd at Oakbrook. Savings Bonds will be awarded to the three winners on April 27th. The Missouri Department of Conservation will also have hands on activities for children of all ages. Some of Kansas City’s foremost experts on conservation, rain gardens, and native plants will be present and providing information regarding how to use energy wisely, and planning and building a rain garden. There will also be information and instruction for constructing butterfly and wildflower gardens, building rain barrels, and bird conservation. One of Missouri’s foremost experts on Native Plants will be on hand, and Native Plants will be available to purchase. Many sponsors have donated gifts and prizes for this event to promote environmental awareness for Earth Day and EVERYDAY!
